Poet-Tea with Nadia Sims
About this Event
October 10 Theme: The Roots We Carry
Where do our stories begin? Long before us, perhaps.
Inspired by ROOTS RUN DEEP: The Art of Indigenous Heritage in the WORK_SPACE Main Street Gallery, this month’s Poet-Tea invites us to explore the roots we carry with us—our ancestry, heritage, family stories, memories, traditions, and the experiences that continue to shape who we are today.
Through poetry, conversation, and guided writing prompts, Manchester Poet Laureate Nadia Sims will encourage us to look back, look within, and consider how where we come from informs who we are—and who we are becoming.
You don’t need to consider yourself a poet—or even a writer—to participate. Curiosity is enough. Come write, reflect, share if you’d like, and discover the connections that can emerge when we put our stories into words.
And because it wouldn’t be Poet-Tea without the tea, enjoy warm cups of tea and pastries as we write and connect in a welcoming, supportive environment designed to inspire creative exploration.
New faces and first-time writers are always welcome.
Make a day of it: Come back at 3 PM for a special public reading featuring participants from our Roots Run Deep Storytelling Lab: Stories of Heritage, Resilience & Belonging, sharing work developed through an exploration of heritage, identity, resilience, and belonging.
