Martha Nasch, of St. Paul, Minnesota, was a wife and mother in the 1920’s until a mysterious illness and suicide attempts got her involuntarily committed to the St. Peter State Hospital for the Insane for 7 years. Her outrageous claims of not eating or sleeping earned her national press coverage upon her release. Was this all a hoax? Mental delusions?
