About this Event

We’re pleased to welcome Brendon Stubbs, Visiting Professor at The University of Manchester, as the guest speaker for our July seminar.
The seminar will take place from 2:30–3:30 pm on Tuesday 21st of July in Jean McFarlane Building, Room 3.332.
Talk Abstract

Abstract: This seminar sets out the evidence on physical activity for preventing and treating mental disorders across the lifespan, from childhood to older age. It covers what the data show across depression, anxiety and serious mental illness, the mechanisms behind the effect, and why people with mental illness remain the least active despite carrying the greatest physical health burden. It then turns to what clinicians and services can actually do. The question is no longer whether physical activity works, but how we make it standard mental health care.
