• Do you struggle with the sagging middle?• Do you get stuck in your writing, not sure where to go in the story?
• Have you ever been told your characters are flat, one-dimensional, or unlikable?
• Have you ever become bored with your own story?
• Have you ever started writing an idea, then shelved it because you didn't know how to finish it?
Would you like to eliminate these getting-stuck issues and find your fire, your passion for your story again?
Dr. Diana Stout recently engaged several bona fide pantser writers, who hated anything to do with plotting, as beta testers for her plotting worksheets. They were amazed when one simple plotting step unlocked their being stuck, finding their original excitement for their story returning. In fact, they wanted to know more plotting steps!
They discovered their beliefs of plotting were myths, that pantsering could include plotting and still include surprises.
Come learn how you can have the best of both worlds and find your writing fire again.
Bio:
During her 50-plus-year tenure as a writer, Diana has been published across the genres and multiple publication and production platforms. Returning to school at 50 as a non-traditional student, she received her AA, BA, and MFA degrees in English and Creative Writing. Her PhD in English with Education Emphasis was a focus on the pedagogy (the learning and teaching) of writing and her dissertation a study on plagiarism.
She's been teaching writing for over 30 years, both online in writing communities and inseat academic and non-academic classrooms, covering all styles and formats of writing from academic writing, creative writing—both fiction and nonfiction (long and short)—business writing, newspaper, and magazine writing, playwriting, and screenwriting.
Her recent anthology publication of a Gothic historical, Harbor House: Say You Will, has become the 100-year prequel to the Gothic / psychological thriller she's currently plotting, Harbor House: Last Blood.
Her most recent publication, CPE, for Character, Plot, and Emotion, which are the three structural pillars every story requires to attract agents, publishers, producers, and readers. CPE: Workbook is a companion book to CPE, both detailing a writer's journey of discovering how plotting produces a better story.
