Session 5: The Horses – Expressive Brushwork for Animals
In this session, we will immerse ourselves in the exciting challenge of painting horses, learning how to capture their fluid movement and vibrant energy. Using quick gesture sketches, dynamic brushstrokes, and layering techniques, you’ll learn how to bring your equine subjects to life. Whether the horse is grazing or galloping, this class will teach you how to reflect the horse’s vitality and character through paint.
Objectives:
Practice sketching fast, loose gestures to capture the energy and flow of a horse before committing to paint.
Learn layering techniques for depth and texture to master the process of building depth with acrylics.
Experiment with dynamic brushwork to reflect the motion and character of the horse, from grazing to galloping.
