About this Event

Plein Air Painting Contest

Capture the beauty, architecture, and character of downtown Hanover during our Plein Air Painting Contest! Artists of all skill levels are invited to create original artwork outdoors, painting on location throughout the designated downtown Main Street Hanover event area.

Artists may set up anywhere within the approved downtown district and are encouraged to scout the area beforehand to find a location that inspires them. From historic buildings and charming storefronts to vibrant streetscapes and community scenes, downtown Hanover offers endless creative possibilities.

The registration fee is $25 per artist. Painting will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All completed artwork must be returned to the Main Street Hanover tent by 2:30 p.m. for judging. Judging will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three artists:

🥇 First Place: $100
🥈 Second Place: $75
🥉 Third Place: $50

Whether you are an experienced plein air painter or trying outdoor painting for the first time, this contest is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your talent, connect with fellow artists, and celebrate the unique charm of downtown Hanover. Spectators are encouraged to stroll downtown, watch artists at work, and experience Hanover through a creative lens.

Participant Check-In: 10:30am - 11:30am

If you are registered in advance, you may check in up to 30 minutes before the event begins. Please note that painting may not begin until the official event start time.
