A Community Program Series
Spend a day immersed in art, nature, and the beauty of Assateague! Join the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and the Art League of Ocean City for a special FREE plein air painting experience at Assateague State Park.

Led by experienced plein air artist Rebecca Morgan, participants will learn techniques for capturing the landscape, light, color, and atmosphere of Assateague's unique coastal environment.
But this experience goes beyond painting! Environmental restoration experts will introduce participants to the living shoreline project at Assateague State Park, offering a closer look at our local salt marsh ecosystems, why they matter, and the work being done to protect and restore them.
Schedule
9:30–10:00 AM – Welcome & Get Acquainted
10:00–10:45 AM – Tour & discussion about the history of the living shoreline
10:45–11:00 AM – Break & set up in the painting area
11:00 AM–3:00 PM – Plein Air Painting
Lunch and refreshments will be served during the painting session.
✨ Plus, your artwork could be part of an exhibition!
Following the program, participants will have the opportunity to display their paintings during a pop-up exhibition at the Art League of Ocean City’s November First Friday celebration.
Whether you're interested in painting, the environment, or simply experiencing Assateague in a new way, this program offers a unique opportunity to create, learn, and connect with our coastal landscape.
Space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged!
This program is part of the Maryland Coastal Bays Program’s Engage Your Salt Marsh: A Community Program Series, designed to connect Worcester County residents with their local salt marsh ecosystems and increase awareness of ongoing restoration efforts.
