General informations
The SMEM Playroom allows folk to come and play on some of the rare and legendary instruments of the SMEM collection. The 4-hour sessions are the opportunity for both newbies and pros to use some rare and inaccessible instruments, learn how they work and even record the result using the sound cards provided. A qualified member of the SMEM team will always be there to supervise the sessions and will make sure everything goes well, by providing suggestions, advice and help if needed.
During the Playroom Session, you will have the possibility to visit the SMEM's iconic collection with a guided tour of about one hour. The tour offers great insights in some famous pieces of the collection and its history. It is also possible to stay in the Playroom during the visit if you prefer to have the full four hours to play on the instruments, or have already visited the collection.
It’s recommended to bring your own set of headphones with you, as well as a USB-compatible recording device / personal computer if you wish to record your productions.
The Playroom is located at Blue Factory (Passage du Cardinal, 1700 Fribourg). After passing the main entrance, turn right. After 50 meters, you will find a red garage on your right. This is the Playroom.

Informations générales
La Playroom du SMEM permet de jouer sur des instruments rares et légendaires de l’immense collection collection d’instruments de musique électronique du SMEM. Les sessions, d’une durée de quatre heures, donnent la possibilité aux néophytes comme aux professionnels de découvrir des instruments parfois difficilement accessibles, d’apprendre leur fonctionnement et même de s’enregistrer grâce aux cartes son à disposition ! Un membre qualifié de l’équipe du SMEM sera toujours présent durant les sessions et veillera à ce que tout se passe au mieux, donnant volontiers des conseils, explications ou coups de main si nécessaire.
Pendant la Playroom Session, vous aurez la possibilité de visiter la célèbre collection du SMEM avec une visite guidée d'environ une heure. La visite offre un aperçu de certaines pièces célèbres de la collection et de son histoire. Il est également possible de rester dans la Playroom pendant la visite si vous préférez avoir les quatre heures complètes pour jouer sur les instruments, ou si vous avez déjà visité la collection.
Il est recommandé de venir avec ses propres écouteurs et de prendre un support d’enregistrement compatible USB / ordinateur portable si vous souhaitez enregistrer vos créations.
La Playroom est située à Blue Factory (Passage du Cardinal, 1700 Fribourg). Après être passé l'entrée principale, tourner sur votre droite. Après 50 mètres, vous trouverez un garage avec une porte rouge. Vous êtes à la Playroom!

Der SMEM Playroom ermöglicht es, auf Instrumenten der SMEM-Sammlung zu spielen. Die 4-stündigen Sitzungen bieten sowohl Einsteigern als auch Erfahrenen Musikern die Möglichkeit, einige seltene und weniger zugängliche Instrumente zu nutzen, deren Funktionsweise praktisch zu testen und das Ergebnis sogar mit den verfügbaren Soundkarten aufzunehmen. Ein Mitglied des SMEM-Teams wird für die Betreuung der Sitzungen zur Verfügung stehen und dafür sorgen, dass alles gut läuft und für Vorschläge, Ratschläge und Hilfe zur Verfügng steht.
Während der Playroom Session haben Sie die Möglichkeit, die ikonische Sammlung des SMEM im Rahmen einer etwa einstündigen Führung zu besichtigen. Die Führung bietet einen guten Einblick in einige berühmte Stücke der Sammlung und ihre Geschichte. Es ist auch möglich, während des Besuchs im Playroom zu bleiben, wenn Sie es vorziehen, die vollen vier Stunden auf den Instrumenten zu spielen, oder die Sammlung bereits besucht haben.
Wir empfehlen, ein eigenes Kopfhörer-Set sowie ein USB-kompatibles Aufnahmegerät / PC mitzubringen, wenn Sie Ihre Produktionen aufnehmen möchten.
Der Playroom befindet sich in der BlueFactory (Passage du Cardinal, 1700 Freiburg). Nachdem Sie den Haupteingang passiert haben, biegen Sie rechts ab. Nach 50 Metern finden Sie auf der rechten Seite eine rote Garage mit dem Playroom.

About the instruments in the Playroom
The instruments available for you to play are the ones located in the Playroom at the moment of your visit. Every now and then, we interchange some instruments. You can find a list of the instruments available at the moment here : https://www.smemmusic.ch/en/playroom
Adding an instrument in the Playroom implies complete testing and making sure it is running properly and stably. Since this process is time consuming, requests technical expertise and can be quite expensive, we do not do it on the spot.
Special requests to play specific instruments are only possible, when possible, in the context of a residency or private rental of the Playroom, which involves additional costs.

Über die Instrumente im Playroom

Die Aufnahme eines Instruments in den Playroom setzt voraus, dass es vollständig getestet wird und dass es ordnungsgemäß und stabil läuft. Da dieser Prozess zeitaufwendig ist, technisches Fachwissen erfordert und recht teuer sein kann, ist es nicht möglich, ihn sofort durchzuführen.
Sonderwünsche, bestimmte Instrumente zu spielen, sind, wenn möglich, nur im Rahmen einer Residenz oder einer privaten Anmietung des Spielzimmers möglich, was mit zusätzlichen Kosten verbunden ist.
