Playful Realism in Oils: Paint like Richard Schmid at Asher Adams

This month, we're highlighting the contemporary realist Richard Schmid in partnership with Workshop SLC at Asher Adams.

Richard Schmid was an American painter celebrated for his lively landscapes, portraits, and still lifes in oil. Known for his confident brushwork and expressive color relationships, Schmid brought a spirited exaggeration of realism to his work.

In this class, you'll paint your own master copy of one of Schmid's still-life floral scenes. We'll take the intimidation out of oil painting as you explore looseness and lightness in your color and brushwork. You'll leave with a fun, playful style that still holds a sense of realism.
