Join Black Out for an evening of film, conversation and community as we screen HOW DO I LOOK? (2006), a landmark documentary directed by Wolfgang Busch exploring the history, culture, and impact of Ballroom.

Through the voices of legendary pioneers, performers, and community leaders, HOW DO I LOOK? traces the evolution of Ballroom from its roots in Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities to its global cultural influence. The film offers a powerful look at the creativity, resilience, chosen family, and sel-expression that have shaped Ballroom for generations.

Following the screening, we invite all to gather for a community conversation about the film, the history of ballroom, the ways Black queer and trans communities continue to create culture, build family, and imagine new futures.

Whether you've been walking for years, are new to the ballroom scene, or simply curious to learn more, this evening offers an opportunity to celebrate Ballroom's legacy and impact.
