Play on the Runway
About this Event
For July 11 and 12, the YZD Runway will transform into a play-your-way car-free zone. Bike it. Roll it. Skate it. Fly it. Bring your wheels, your games, your ideas – and make the Runway your playground. From hands-on activities to crowd-favourite programming, Play on the Runway is designed for all ages, all abilities, and all kinds of fun.
Enjoy 1km of open space filled with more to see and do than ever before. Whether you’re returning or visiting for the first time, there’s something new waiting for you to discover.

What’s in Store:
- Bring Your Wheels: Whether it’s bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, unicycles, tricycles, or strollers, there’s ample space for everyone to explore and enjoy the open tarmac.
- Test the Latest Toys: Zoom into fun with the newest electric scooters and bikes. Rent roller skates or learn to skateboard.
- Exciting Performances: Be amazed by vibrant roller-dancing shows and mesmerizing hula dancers, all while enjoying musical performances.
- Kite Extravaganza: Gaze at the sky as the Toronto Kite Fliers Club puts on a stunning display of gigantic kites. These intricate international designs will soar high, adding a splash of colour and wonder to the skyline.
- Food Trucks & Beverages: Satisfy your cravings with delicious bites and beverages from a variety of food trucks – for purchase.
Getting Here & Parking
- Free parking is available at 10 Hanover Road if you're driving.
- If you’re taking transit, take the number 120 Calvington bus from Wilson TTC Station or along Sheppard Avenue, Jane Street, or Keele Street if coming from the west. Hop off at Maniza Street and Powell Road and walk one block east.
- If walking, the gate is a 20 minute walk from Wilson TTC Station, and a 30 minute walk from Downsview Library.
What to Bring
- A confirmation email to show gate staff, either on your phone or as a printout
- Kids of all ages
- Dogs, on leashes
- Bikes, skateboards, roller skates, rollerblades, balls, kites, frisbees, sidewalk chalk
- Sunscreen, a hat, and water
What to Leave at Home
- Anything that flies, including drones (kites are allowed)
- Anything that leaves a permanent mark on the runway, including paint
What to Keep in Mind
- Participants must stay on the Runway and are not permitted on the grass.
- Everyone in your party should be included in your total registration number.
- There will be photographers on site and Northcrest Developments may use the photos. By participating, you and your guests acknowledge that your image may be captured and used online or in print in the future.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ASSUMPTIONS OF RISKS:
- By attending at or participating in Play on the Runway the “Activities”, including the use or rental of any skates, helmets, bikes, scooters, hoola hoops, pickleball equipment or other mobility or skating aids, (collectively, the “Equipment”), you acknowledge that you understand the risks, dangers, and hazards which are inherent on attending at or participating in Activities, which risks include, but are not limited to: the potential for bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, paralysis, or death arising from transmission of communicable disease (including COVID-19); contact or interaction with others who may have been exposed to COVID-19; close proximity to or contact with surfaces, Equipment, fixtures, or other objects that may be infected with COVID-19 or other communicable illnesses; or negligence (collectively, the “Risks”). You are in the best position to assess the impact that a communicable disease may have on you or on others with whom you may transmit such disease.
Waiver of Claims, Release of Liability and Indemnity:
As a condition of use of this Facility, and in consideration of permitting you to use this Facility, you hereby agree as follows:
- To waive any right to sue Northcrest Developments or any of its affiliated entities and their respective partners, directors, officers, agents, representatives, employees, independent contractors, sponsors, subcontractors, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) in respect of all causes of action (including for injuries or illness caused by their own negligence), claims, damages or losses of any kind that may arise as a result of the Risks or in connection with attendance at or participation in Activities of the Facility, including without limitation the right to make a third party claim or claim over against the Releasees arising from the same;
- To release, discharge and forever hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liability for damages or loss arising as a result of the Risks arising from attendance at or participation in Activities; and, due to any cause whatsoever, whether arising from the NEGLIGENCE of the Releasees, breach of any statutory or other duty, breach of contract, mistake or error of judgment of the Releasees, or otherwise; and
- To indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all damages, loss or expense (including legal costs) of any kind resulting from any and all claims, demands, causes of action of any kind whatsoever including those involving negligence on the part of the Releasees resulting from the Risks arising from the attendee’s attendance at and/or participation in Activities of the Facility.
Liability of the managers, operators, and owners of this property is excluded by these conditions.

Please be advised that a photographer will take photographs and videos of attendees on behalf of Northcrest Developments, which may be used in future commercial or promotional materials. The participant acknowledges that their image may be recorded and used for such purposes by entering.
