Bring a chess set, bring a friend, bring your lunch and enjoy a picnic too! Join us to play chess on the grounds of Laurel Hill Mansion. Once the home of renowned chess master Philip Physick Randolph 1824 – 1869 the stewards of Laurel Hill Mansion are pleased to welcome aficionados of the game back to Laurel Hill Mansion to play. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player come and enjoy a friendly game of chess outdoors in picturesque surroundings. This historic summer estate is located in Philadelphia’s East Fairmount Park. It sits on a bluff above the Schuylkill River and there are lots of cool, breezy locations on the old property for outdoor chess, including the back porch, a gazebo and dozens of shade trees. All ages are welcome to come play chess. Those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. We start playing at 12:30 P.M.

Laurel Hill Mansion is located at 3487 Edgley Drive, Philadelphia PA 19121, off of off of Reservoir Drive and across from Edgley Field. There is ample Free Parking. Restrooms are available.
