October is Urban and Community Forestry Month and fall is one of the best times of the year to plant trees in the Pacific Northwest. Join horticulturist and arborist John Martin for a hands-on workshop covering the essential techniques that help trees thrive for decades. Learn how to select the right tree for the right location, evaluate planting sites, prepare the soil, plant at the proper depth, and avoid common planting mistakes that often lead to poor growth or premature decline. We'll also cover watering, mulching, staking and early care practices that establish healthy, resilient trees. Whether you're planting your first tree or adding to an established landscape, this practical class will give you the confidence and skills to plant trees correctly and enjoy their beauty for generations. In conjunction with the class, the Poulsbo Tree Board will plant several trees in the park. For those wishing to fully immerse in the project, volunteers will be welcome to join in planting. Tools and gloves will be provided.
