Planting Greens for Fall Harvest with Portland Edible Gardens at Stark
About this Event
September is the last window for planting vegetables that will mature this year in your home garden. Don't miss this chance to extend your harvest into the dark, wet months ahead! You don't need a fancy greenhouse or special equipment to grow an abundant winter garden. In this class Ian from Portland Edible Gardens will discuss which vegetables can be planted at this critical window, and how to plant them for an optimal fall and winter harvest. Discussion will include all kinds of leafy greens including: kale, collard greens, chard, lettuce, spinach, arugula, mustard greens, mizuna, bok choi, and more!
***All classes at Stark this fall will be held in our veggie hoophouse, which is located in the yard of the nursery, near the trees and shrubs. It is a large greenhouse that functions as a covered outdoor area. If the weather is warm, we will have water available, but please remember to dress so that you are comfortable during the presentation.***
