Plant Identification and Foraging 101 - Trout Lake
About this Event
Come join us for a fun and educational day of learning all about the plants around you! Expect to learn a bit about plant ecology and taxonomy, how to describe and identify local plant species, where you can and can't forage, foraging safety tips, and botanical resources to continue your plant learning journey. We’ll go for a short walk and see which species we can find and identify, focusing on edible, medicinal, or otherwise interesting species. This workshop will run approximately 1.5 hours and be accessible to all levels. The most important thing you need is an interest to learn!
The tours are free to attend, though I will be collecting optional donations for Environmental Youth Alliance, a local Indigenous-led non-profit working to empower BIPOC youth to be environmental stewards through native plant restoration.
Bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable walking shoes. Cameras, notebooks, field guides, or anything else to help you remember what you’ve learned is also encouraged.
