Plant Appreciation
These workshops are geared to all ages and abilities. The fee is $10 per attendee.
Schedule of botanical themes and art activities:
- July 2: attendees will learn all about growing and maintaining allium in our growing region, before creating a fireworks-inspired cyanotype print
- July 9: attendees will learn all about coleus before participating in a nature printing activity. Walk away with a set of notecards printed with the leaves from coleus!
- July 16: attendees will learn all about growing roses before making their own with handmade cold porcelain!
- July 23: attendees will learn about growing hibiscus and butterfly pea, as well as ways to dry and use the plant for tea blends. Using Japanese shibori techniques, attendees will leave with their own bandana dyed with (fugitive) natural dyes.
- July 30: attendees will learn about growing and drying loofah. The art activity will use loofah discs to create exfoliating, handmade soap.
- August 6: participants will learn about growing different varieties of peppers in our growing region before using these plants to create handprinted market tote bags.
