FREE, nighttime public telescope viewing is offered monthly (weather permitting) through the Star Parties at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Beginning at dusk, a variety of telescopes are available to view the evening's display of stars, planets and other heavenly visuals, with expert operators on hand to answer questions and guide observations.
Star Parties include a live Sky Lecture inside the Planterium's Orthwein Star Bay Theater. This program includes a discussion and observation of what could be viewed in the current month's sky - featuring constellations, planets, meteor showers and other significant astronomical events.
