As our nation celebrates America’s 250th anniversary, Plain City is proud to revive the historic Corn Carnival to honor our agricultural roots, local history, and small-town traditions. Originally held from 1914–1919 and revived again in the 1980s, the Plain City Corn Carnival returns as part of Plain City’s official America 250 celebration.
The main Corn Carnival festivities take place on Saturday, September 12, with additional special events happening Wednesday through Friday leading up to the big America 250 celebration on Saturday.
Bring the whole family to Uptown Plain City for food, entertainment, games, history, and hometown fun!

🌽 Virtual community corn mural: Get your photo taken at the Plain City Library and become part of a larger commemorative mural celebrating this special event, where each individual picture helps create one big image!
🏛️ Historical displays & interactive exhibits from local businesses and organizations.
🚲 Penny-farthing (high-wheel bicycle) demonstrations.
🎤 Acoustic stage performances, line dancing & talent show.
🧑‍🌾 DJ Pete Emmons hosting agricultural trivia, games & activities throughout the day.

🎈 Tethered Hot-Air Balloon Rides – 5-7 PM
𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:
The Main Stage will be located at 340 W. Main Street in Uptown Plain City — the grassy area where the former Plain City Elementary School once stood. Throughout the day, the stage will feature contests, performances, trivia, entertainment, and the evening concert by Zack Attack Band beginning at 5 PM. The tethered hot-air balloon rides will take place behind the Main Stage around the area of the baseball field.

🚲 Plain City High Wheel Race – 5-6 PM
📍 Starts & finishes at 101 S. Chillicothe St. in Downtown Plain City
Watch historic penny-farthing bicycles race through Uptown Plain City on an approximately 0.9-mile course beginning outside The Clocktower Kitchen + Bar. Riders will complete as many laps as possible in one hour using a “race-to-zero” format — when the clock hits zero, the rider with the most completed laps wins!

🎺 Corn Carnival Parade – 6 PM
Immediately following the race, enjoy the Corn Carnival Parade featuring agricultural and corn-themed floats, patriotic America 250 entries, local organizations, and even several historic high-wheel bicycles in the parade lineup!
👩‍🌾 Plain City Farmers Market – 5-7:30 PM
Shop fresh local produce, homemade baked goods, artisan goods, and handcrafted finds at Bicentennial Park during and after the high wheel race and parade.
