A two-day hiking weekend in Pitlochry exploring four incredible Cairngorm mountains with Mountain Leader Tony Lowe.
A challenging, memorable adventure.
We’ll meet on Thursday evening for a relaxed meal together in Pitlochry. It’s a great chance to get to know the group, run through the weekend plans and answer any questions before the hiking begins.
Friday – Ben Vrackie Day
On Friday we start right from Pitlochry itself and head up Ben Vrackie, a brilliant warm-up mountain with excellent paths and a steady ascent. The views from the summit are well worth the effort — you’ll see across to the Northern Cairngorms, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, and deep into the Grampian Mountains. We’ll be down by early afternoon, giving you time to enjoy Pitlochry, grab a coffee, or try one of the famous local butcher’s pies.
Stats: 8 miles | 2,756 ft elevation
Saturday – Beinn a’ Ghlo Day (4 Munros)
Saturday is the big one: a full day on the Beinn a’ Ghlo massif, starting from Blair Atholl. This iconic range includes four summits, three of which exceed 1000m. We begin with Carn Liath (975m), followed by Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain (1016m), Carn nan Gabhar (1121m) and finish with Airgiod Bheinn (1061m).
It’s a strenuous day, but the huge views and sweeping ridgelines showcase some of Scotland’s most impressive Munros. A proper mountain experience you’ll never forget.
Afterwards, you’re welcome to join me for a relaxed evening meal in the pub — local beers, whisky or gin optional — or do your own thing if you prefer.
All this for £150 per person.
