About this Event

Think Shark Tank meets American Idol - but for filmmakers.

The gap between your vision and how you communicate it is exactly what Pitch Perfectly teaches.

Pitch Perfectly is a full-day experience where you'll learn the craft of pitching, connect with NYC's filmmaking community, and watch real filmmakers take the stage to compete for prizes in front of development executives and a live audience.

The day starts with an opening mixer and icebreaker before diving into a hands-on pitching workshop. You'll learn how to craft a killer logline, build your elevator pitch, and understand what industry decision makers actually care about before they say yes.

From there, a logline lab and networking mixer give you the space to sharpen your pitch while connecting with fellow filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals.

Then comes the main event: the Mini Pitch Showcase.

Selected filmmakers deliver a 3-minute pitch to a jury of development executives for a chance to win the Grand Jury Prize.

But the jury isn't the only one voting - the entire audience gets a say too, choosing the Audience Choice Award winner in real time.

One participant put it simply: "My film classes in university were fluff compared to this."

Whether you come to learn, to network, or to watch filmmakers put it all on the line - you'll leave with tools, connections, and a whole new way of talking about your work.

You've got a story worth telling. Now learn how to pitch it.

Event Overview

Every filmmaker needs to answer one question on the spot: "What's your film about?" Pitch Perfectly is a full-day immersive filmmaker event built to make sure your answer makes them lean in

You'll break down the anatomy of a great elevator pitch - how to hook someone in 30 seconds, communicate your vision with clarity, and leave them wanting more. You'll learn the logline formula that professionals use to package their stories and practice building your own in real time - all while connecting with NYC's filmmaking community through networking mixers, collaborative exercises, and hands-on exercises.

What the day covers:

  • The Logline Formula: How to distill your entire project into one compelling sentence that sells your story
  • The Elevator Pitch: Structuring a 30-60 second pitch that feels natural, confident, and impossible to ignore
  • What Decision-Makers Listen For: The specific language, framing, and hooks that make producers and executives lean in
  • Common Mistakes: Why most pitches lose the room in the first 10 seconds and how to avoid it

The Mini Pitch Showcase:

Selected filmmakers (selected through an open submission on FilmFreeway), take the stage and deliver their pitch live in front of a panel of executives. A real world pitching environment where the jury awards the Grand Jury Prize and the entire audience votes in real time for the Audience Choice Award.

Whether you're pitching or watching, it's the kind of moment that changes how you think about your project.

Want to pitch your project?

Three filmmakers will be selected to take the stage and pitch live at the showcase. If you've got a project you're ready to put in front of a room - this is your shot.

Applications are open now on FilmFreeway. You'll need a logline and a short synopsis of your project. Selected Filmmakers will be notified by June 8.
