Join us for a special pre-show Pirate Party before the Story Pirate event at Uptown Theatre, including a reading and a book signing from author, Aloura M. Charles. Make pirate-themed crafts, do pirate activities, and march in a pirate parade to Uptown Theater.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
When nine-year-old Jasper discovers a hidden bookshop run by the mysterious Story Sisters, he falls through a bookworm hole and gets Sucked In! to the story of Treasure Island. His older sister Maya and stepbrother Danny must travel into the book to rescue Jasper. Together the three kids face pirates, mermaids and shape-shifting tricksters! Will they be able to get the story back on track and return safely home?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Aloura M. Charles grew up in Florida canoeing, catching snakes and milking cows. She is now an award winning screenwriter, filmmaker and author. After graduating from the Florida State Film School, Aloura mentored with filmmakers Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese. She’s a member of the Writer’s Guild of America. Her short films have won awards at festivals both domestically and internationally and her first Christmas movie will air on The Hallmark Channel this year. Her screenplay adaptation of The Golden Snail by author and friend Graeme Base, is currently in development as an animate feature. Inheriting her father’s love of reading and her mother’s writing and teaching talents, Aloura began reading to her son when he was born. Aloura lives in Burbank, CA with her husband and son where she writes, surfs and teaches.
