Pink Poster Club Hosts: Meet The Candidates - IL-9th District

We’ve got a primary coming up on March 17, 2026 where we’ll decide who will be the Democratic candidate for the 9th Congressional District of Illinois. Join Pink Poster Club for an in-person event at the American Legion where you can meet several of the candidates running. Have a beer, meet new people, and hear from several of the candidates hoping to represent you in Congress. Don't miss out on this casual and informative gathering – your voice matters!

Candidates will answer randomized questions submitted in advance from the audience. Answers will be timed. This is not a debate, but a friendly forum to help you get to know the candidates. If you’d like to submit a question, please click here and submit your question by February 6, 2026. Pink Poster Club will review and edit questions prior to the event.

Doors open at 6:30 PM and the forum runs from 7:00 PM -8:45 PM. There will be time to mingle and meet new people before and after the forum.

This is a ticketed event, and we expect it to sell out.

Donations will go to covering the cost of the event. Remaining donations will go to Evanston Community Cares (50%) and to Pink Poster Club 2026 operational expenses (50%).

Valerie Kahan

Valerie Kahan is an Evanston native, driven by a lifelong mission to lift up her community and foster a more sustainable, equitable community in Evanston. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Art Makers Outpost, an environmentally conscious art maker space focused on youth mentorship and community collaboration, and more recently founded Evanston Community Cares, a grassroots initiative, providing emergency mutual aid to Evanston Community members.

Mary Nisi

Mary Nisi, local Evanstonian, is the founder of Toast & Jam DJs & Other Delights (just celebrating the 20th anniversary!) and the creator and sole DJ of Hot Flash Dance, a punctual party for rowdy women (just coming up on the 1st year anniversary!). Audio/AV/Vibes! provided by DJ Mary Nisi!
