พิงค์แมนถูกพบว่าตายกลางกรุงนิวยอร์ค ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ในปี 2561 ร่างของเขาอยู่ในถุงบรรจุศพสีชมพูช็อคกิ้งพิงค์สีเดียวกับรถเข็นช็อปปิ้งที่วางอยู่ใกล้ ๆ วิญญาณของพิงค์แมนเปลี่ยนตัวเองเป็นข้อมูลดิจิทัลแล้วถ่ายโอนเข้าไปในโลกปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI) เวียนว่ายและเฝ้าดูความเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกรอบใหม่ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น โดยเฉพาะการก้าวขึ้นเป็นประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐอีกครั้งของ โดนัลด์ ทรัมป์ ผู้ไม่เคยเชื่อในภาวะโลกร้อน และมีความฝันที่อยากจะเห็นนักบินอวกาศชาวอเมริกันไปปักธงชาติสหรัฐบนดาวอังคารอันเป็นความฝันเดียวกันกับ อีลอน มัสก์ มหาเศรษฐีอันดับหนึ่งของโลกที่อยากจะพิชิตดาวอังคารให้ได้เช่นเดียวกัน
เมื่อมนุษย์บ้าอำนาจและเต็มไปด้วยความโลภมาร่วมมือกันถลุงทรัพยากรให้หมดโลก แล้วหวังว่าจะไปถลุงต่อบนดาวเคราะห์ดวงใหม่ นับเป็นความโหดร้าย โง่เขลา และไร้สำนึกอย่างสิ้นเชิง พิงค์แมนจึงอาสาเดินทางไปสำรวจดาวอังคารล่วงหน้า สร้างภาพว่าเราจะเห็นอะไรเมื่อได้ไปเหยียบบนดาวเคราะห์สีแดง พิงค์แมนแตกตัวเองออกไปเป็นหลายร่างเหมือนอะมีบ้า และ “Pink Men” ได้ถือกำเนิดขึ้น ท่องเที่ยวไปเหมือนซอมบี้หรือหุ่นยนต์ที่ไม่สนใจอะไรนอกจากออกเดินช้อปปิ้งราวกับคนบ้าไร้สติ
ดาวอังคารสีชมพู คือนิทรรศการภาพถ่ายและวิดีโอประดิษฐ์ ที่ผลิตภาพออกมาจากถ้อยคำ (Prompt) ผนวกกับข้อมูลขนาดมหึมา (Big Data) จากระบบปัญญาประดิษฐ์, มานิต ศรีวานิชภูมิ ส่งเหล่า Pink Men ให้เดินทางไปไวกว่าเทคโนโลยีอวกาศในปัจจุบัน แสดงให้เห็นถึงการบ้าบริโภคอันไม่มีที่สิ้นสุดของมนุษย์ได้เข้าไปแพร่พันธุ์บนดาวอังคาร จากดาวเคราะห์ที่เคยเป็นสีแดง ถูกแปลงสภาพจนกลายเป็นดาวเคราะห์สีชมพูช็อคกิ้งพิงค์
มานิต ศรีวานิชภูมิ เป็นศิลปินภาพถ่ายแถวหน้า และเป็นผู้บุกเบิกวงการภาพถ่ายร่วมสมัยไทยมากกว่า 30 ปี

Pink Man was found dead in New York City, USA, in 2018. His body was placed in a shocking pink body bag, the same color as the shopping cart nearby. His spirit transformed into digital data and transferred itself into the world of artificial intelligence (AI), observing the changes of the world—especially the return of Donald Trump as U.S. President. Trump, who never believed in global warming, shared a dream with Elon Musk, the world’s richest man: to see American astronauts plant the U.S. flag on Mars.
As power-hungry and greedy humans join forces to consume Earth’s resources, hoping to continue their exploitation on a new planet, their actions reveal a terrifying, foolish, and completely irresponsible mindset. Pink Man volunteered to journey to Mars ahead of them, creating visions of what we might see when we arrive on the red planet. He split himself into something like an amoeba, “Pink Men” emerged—wandering like zombies or mindless robots, obsessed only with shopping in a crazed consumerist rush.
Pink MARS is a photographic and AI-generated video exhibition that transforms words (prompts) into images, integrating Big Data through AI. Manit Sriwanichpoom sends his Pink Men to travel beyond the limits of current space technology, illustrating humanity’s insatiable consumption as it spreads to Mars. Once a red planet, Mars is transformed into a shocking pink world of consumerist excess.
Manit Sriwanichpoom is a leading photographic artist and a pioneer of contemporary photography in Thailand for over 30 years.
