SEP 28 UPDATES: PLEASE READ! Due to low enrollment for the tournament, we have cancelled the tournament on Oct 18 and have opened the Kumite Camp to both males and females and lowered the age to 10 years and older. As part of the American Cancer Society's fundraising for breast cancer care & research, North Carolina AAU is hosting the third "Pink Belt Karate Fundraiser" We're hosting a co-ed intensive kumite camp on Oct. 17, 18 (in place of the cancelled tournament) and 19. to provide high-level technical instruction, personal development, mentorship and fellowship. Featuring instructors and champions (confirmed instructors Kaitlin Leslie and Gidea Pretorius, the camp will focus on kumite, injury prevention, and mindset training. Registration for camp and tournament will be at bit.ly/pinkbelt25. The rate is $75 for one day only, or $150 for all 3 days. WHY ENROLL?
1. You will train with world level instructors and coaches including Sensei Kaitlin and Sensei Gidea, SC AAU Karate Director and former NKF national kumite coach, Tommy Hood, as well as Cyndy Yu-Robinson, NC AAU Karate Director and AAU Karate national coach.
2. Instead of 1-2 matches at the tournament, you will have at least 20 matches in the camp, with VIDEO review of your timing, distance, and techniques on Sunday.
3. It's State Fair weekend in Raleigh. After camp, you can join the State Fair fun or head over to the Crabtree Valley Mall where a scavenger hunt for campers will send you to stores including Apple, Macy's, American Eagle, and the Cheesecake Factory. Fall in Raleigh is beautiful and fun.
