In 2009, drummer Jane Boxall dreamed of playing blink-182 songs through a “pink” (queer/feminist) lens. Ten years later, she recruited Alaina Hall to be in charge of the mic, belting lines from blink-182’s two singers like it’s no big deal. Corey Selover joined to play the guitar like she’s swinging a sledgehammer, and Jackie Buttolph stepped in to hold down the low end and top things off with sweet vocal harmonies. From Vermont to anywhere audiences ask “what’s my age again?”, PINK-802 brings the pop-punk/patriarchy-pummeling power.

Hailing from Burlington, Vermont, female-fronted Violet Crimes fuses punk rock and melodic hardcore, earning fans with their driving, hard-hitting rhythms, and ear-catching hooks. Drawing inspiration from old school influences like Descendents/All, Dag Nasty, and Off, they’ve also drawn comparisons to Hüsker Dü, The Gits and Naked Aggression.
The band’s feminist anthem “Ledbetter” was featured on Liberty or Death Record’s 2023 compilation “Women in Punk.” In spring 2024, between a full calendar of live shows around New England, they recorded and released Fighting Words, a six-song EP that Seven Days independent weekly called “a powerful record that is full of rage and yet somehow simultaneously retains—for lack of better term—fun.” The band has since written enough material for a full album, and will be entering the studio to record the new songs this fall.
