About this Event
Pinjar (The Cage) is a poetic and multi-layered narrative that explores themes of captivity, identity, and quiet resistance through interconnected lives.
Synopsis
The film weaves together the lives of Tarak, a bird-catcher; his daughter Jhimli; Paromita, a widowed teacher; Shefali, a working woman facing domestic abuse; and Iqbal, a migrant searching for belonging.
Though their lives do not directly intersect, they are connected through shared experiences of confinement—both physical and emotional. The journey of a captured bird mirrors their own struggles, becoming a silent witness to their lives.
Through these parallel narratives, Pinjar offers a haunting reflection on freedom, compromise, and the cost of living within invisible cages.
