Welcome to our 1st Annual HCC Pinewood Derby! We are excited to partner with many of you to encourage and mentor our youth of HCC. This event is intended to work togetheralongside an adult or parent of any child (boy or girl, aged up to 18yr) to build and race a car.
This activity can help build confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Who Can Race? Any young one (boy & girl) ages up to 18 years of age can enter a car and race! You are REQUIRED to register for this event. Registrant should attend or have family
that attends HCC. The registrant will need an adult “mentor/parent” to assist in building and for the day of the race event. If the registrant does not have someone who can help, a mentor will
be assigned and provided by HCC.
Cost: There is no cost for the registrant to enter. Registrant is responsible for the design of their car.
How It Works—
Design Your Car: The registrant and mentor/parent choose your own design for the car.
The registrant carves out the design of the car out of a block of wood (provided by HCC).
The car is sanded, painted/decorated and assembled.
Weigh Your Car: The car is weighed to ensure it is exactly five ounces.
Race Your Car: The car is entered into the HCC Pinewood Derby to compete on event day.
Parent/Mentors: At HCC we love to find ways to give our youth unique opportunities to try new things. Thanks to HCC partners, we are able to host our 1st Annual Pinewood Derby

Awards: Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the championship round.
Rules: An Official Rule Sheet will be provided with each car. All cars must pass inspection to enter the race. Each car must pass inspection by a race official or delegates before it will be allowed to compete. The race official or delegates have the responsibility to disqualify those cars that do not meet these specifications.
The Day of The BIG Race — open to everyone to come watch! Race will be held at HCC and concessions will be sold.
