This is an official Pinburgh Satellite tournament with the entire $650 cost paid to Pinburgh sponsored by Scrappleland!This will allow us to have the 64 player pre-registration at a friendly entry cost of only $20, with full payout to the A and B finalists less the nominal costs for IFPA submissions.
All players have a shot to win the satellite, regardless of final position, with breakdown listed below, whereas the winner has 10% odds and positions 13-64 all have 1%. Each 1% represents 1 raffle ticket and 100 tickets will be used in total. If less than 64 people play, those additional tickets will be voided increasing the odds for those with tickets. We will have additional prizes to raffle as well. Raffle will be hosted live at the end of the finals. If a winning player already has a Pinburgh ticket, or cannot attend, it’s non-transferable and they will receive $350 from Pinburgh instead.
This is a one day event, starting promptly at 12:15 PM, on Saturday, June 6th. The pre-registration will be on Saturday, May 9th, starting at 2 PM. A few spots are held for the tournament organizers and TDs.
Qualifying will be 5 rounds, with 2 games per round, including one modern (Stern/JJP/Spooky etc). and one Williams, played in 4 player groups, 7-5-3-1 scoring. The 2 game banks will be randomized and the groups will have balanced game selection and Swiss pairings.
After 5 rounds and 10 games, it will cut to a top 8 A and 9-16 B, without restrictions. The top 8 in A and top 4 in B all win prizes and additional raffle odds to win the ticket. Finals format will be PAPA style on banks.
