A 9.5 mile circular walk from Helmshore, across Holcombe Moor to Redisher Woods via Pilgrims Cross and back past Peel Tower. This is a moderate walk, over moorland terrain with some steep climbs. This walk is great for those who would like to discover new paths around Holcombe Moor, to see the spectacular views, meet new people and enjoy some time on the hills.
Moorland paths / woodland tracks; some steep, muddy sections and several stiles. Approx. 540m / 1771 ft in elevation.
We will expect to take approx. 5.5 hours walk time (including rest / lunch breaks).
Children (aged 8+) welcome.
Well behaved, friendly (with people and other dogs) dogs are welcome (max. 2 per person), but must be agile enough to climb stiles or small enough to be lifted. Please also note that we will be passing through many fields of sheep, so be prepared to have your dog on a lead for some of this route.
This small-group guided walk is professionally led by Abi, a qualified Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aider / Mental Health First Aider, with full PL insurance. Booking is essential, places are limited and cost £15 per person.
