Pie Contest
Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026. Pies to be delivered between 9:30am-12pm to the Polk County Fair Grounds.
Judging will be at 1:00pm
Categories
1. Youth & Open (youth are those 17 and under; Open exhibitors must be 18 and older)
2. Custard/Pudding/Cream Pie
3. Fruit/Nut Pie
4. Cobbler
Pie Contest Rules
1. One entry per category per exhibitor
2. Names are not to be displayed anywhere on the entries. Entries will be assigned a number at registration.
3. Pie Crust and filling must be made from scratch and the recipe must be entered with the pie or cobbler. The name must
not be on the recipe card pr pie/cobbler.
4. All pies and cobblers must be baked in an 8 or 9 inch disposable pan. Winning pies will be auctioned and you will not
receive your pan back.
Judging
1. Appearance (evenly cooked, edges uniformly done, and additional effort lattice)
2. Crust - Crust appears flaky, crust uniformly cooked, not doughy, etc.
3. Filling - (removes from pie plate easily, filling evenly cooked)
4. Overall Taste - (So good you would eat the whole thing)
5. Judging will be begin at 1pm and is not open to the public
6. The judges decision will be final
7. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three pies in each category.
8. There will be one overall grand prize award for the overall highest scoring pie out of all the pies entered.
