About this Event
Join the Friends of the Palisades Library in collaboration with the Friends of Santa Monica Public Library for an unforgettable evening with bestselling author Pico Iyer as he discusses his latest book, "AFLAME: Learning from Silence."
In “AFLAME," published one week after the Palisades Fire, Iyer shares what he learned in the aftermath of losing his family home in a wildfire in Santa Barbara and through his numerous stays at a Benedictine monastery in Big Sur.
Featured on "Fresh Air," hailed by the Dalai Lama as a book that “may help many to lead lives of greater compassion and deeper peace of mind" and the subject of a long profile in The New York Times, Iyer and “AFLAME” are focused on how we can find hope and possibility even amidst the difficult realities of our time.
How can we remain calm in a world of increasing uncertainty? How can we sustain hope in the face of impermanence? Join us for this fascinating conversation with Pico Iyer to discover how we can do so without losing confidence or clarity.
