Learn about the National Monument, the geology of Picacho Peak and the southern Rio Grande Valley, and the historic Butterfield Overland Trail which passed nearby. This hike is Part 2 of a 2-part series. Part 1 emphasizes area geology. Part 2 emphasizes the history of the Butterfield Overland Trail.
