About this Event

Join Us for Piano Yoga!

Join yoga teacher Eve Crawshaw and pianist Luke Congdon for a unique 90-minute yoga practice accompanied by live improvised piano.

This immersive session weaves together breath, movement and sound, creating a space where music and practice evolve as one. Luke brings over 20 years of playing experience, responding to the unfolding practice to create a live soundscape that develops alongside its participants.

Expect a slow, mindful and embodied practice inspired by both Hatha and Vinyasa traditions. With 90 minutes together, there will be plenty of time to settle into each posture. We will end with an extended and deeply restorative shavasana.

Meet the facilitators

Luke and Eve met over a decade ago whilst studying Music and Social Anthropology, respectively, at the University of Cambridge. This collaboration brings together their shared interests in embodied practice, philosophical enquiry, deep listening and creative exploration, offering a space where movement and music can unfold in conversation with one another.

Luke is classically trained, holding a diploma in classical performance. Since then his main focus has been on playing improvised music. His playing blends contemporary classical with traditional jazz, bebop and modern soul influences. He regularly performs across the UK and Europe and runs a private teaching practice in Brighton.

Eve's teaching is shaped by a love of mindful movement, philosophy and embodied practice. Alongside her yoga training, her academic background explorered embodiment and our relationship with the material world, informing a practice that invites curiosity, presence and a deeper awareness of how we inhabit our bodies.

What to bring

As this event takes place in the beautiful surroundings of a historic church, yoga equipment is not provided. Please bring:

  • A yoga mat
  • A cushion or bolster
  • A blanket for relaxation during shavasana
  • Any props you use in your personal practice

Open to all levels of experience. If you have any accessibility needs, questions, or would like to discuss how the practice can best support you, please get in touch before the event. I'll always do my best to make the session as accessible and welcoming as possible, and I'm happy to talk through any adjustments that may help.
