Piano Trio Concert | "Exquisite Contrasts: Haydn & Arensky"
Join us on Sunday, November 15, at 2:30 p.m. for an engaging afternoon of chamber music at Forte Piano Music Company in Paramus.
Experience two contrasting musical worlds: the elegance, playfulness, and rhythmic excitement of Haydn alongside the sweeping melodies, tenderness, and dramatic intensity of Arensky.
The concert begins with Haydn’s Piano Trio in G major, Hob. XV:25, popularly known as the “Gypsy” Trio. Its nickname comes from the exhilarating finale, Rondo all’Ongarese—“Rondo in the Hungarian style.” Lively syncopations, rapid rhythms, and a fiery dance character bring the work to a dazzling conclusion.
Arensky’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 32 leads the audience into the expressive world of Russian Romanticism. Written in memory of cellist Karl Davydov, the work often brings the cello to the foreground while violin, cello, and piano share its sweeping melodies and passionate musical dialogue. Its deeply moving Elegia forms the emotional heart of the trio.
The concert will be performed by three award-winning musicians with international careers:
Gabriel Anker, violin
Mark Serkin, cello
Sharon Niessen, piano
Whether you are a longtime chamber-music listener or are discovering these works for the first time, we invite you to experience them up close in the intimate and welcoming setting of Forte Piano Music Company.
