About this Event
Roman Rudnytsky is an American concert pianist of Ukrainian background who has performed around the world for many years. A graduate of the Juilliard School in New York, he has played concerts in 100 countries.
Mr. Rudnytsky is prizewinner of ten national and international competitions, including being a second-prize winner in 1965 in the International Leventritt Competition in New York---the most prestigious competition for pianists and violinists in the USA at that time. He has played many concerts and conducted many masterclasses since 1984 through US Embassies in over 35 countries---with repeat visits to many. He has been soloist with many orchestras around the world---playing with them over 45 different works for piano and orchestra. He gave the British, Latin American, and Australian premiere performances in the early 1990's of the then-newly-discovered (1989) Liszt Concerto No.3 in E Flat. He has also played recitals on about 65 cruises of P&O and Cunard ships.
In addition to his concertizing, Mr. Rudnytsky is currently "Professor Emeritus" of Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music in Youngstown, Ohio, where he served on the piano and music faculty for thirty-nine years. He previously had been a member of the piano faculty of both the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana and Artist-in-Residence for a year at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He served twice as Artist-in-Residence in Australia at the University of Melbourne Faculty of Music, and once again in this capacity at the University of Wollongong School of Creative Arts and yet again in Canada, at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.
