Physical Ocenography Workshop 2026
About this Event
Welcome to the biannual New Zealand Physical Oceanography Workshop (POW).
As climate change fundamentally reshapes our marine environments, understanding the fluid dynamics, heat distribution, and structural dynamics of our oceans has never been more critical. This year, our community gathers under a vital, unifying theme: The physics of the ocean in the age of multiple stressors.
We invite abstracts and presentations exploring the fundamental physical processes driving—and reacting to—global environmental change:
- Coastal Oceanography of New Zealand
- High-Latitude and Polar Dynamics
- Next-Generation Ocean Modelling & Data Integration
- Cross-Disciplinary Climate Solutions
- How to do oceanography in the age of gestures broadly
