Months ago, my friend Ellen bought some mini canvas + easel + paint kits, with the idea that we could use them for a Meow Mixer event to get some of our creativity out. I struggled to find a venue where we would be able to enjoy such an activity.
Enter Art Day, hosted by someone from the arts community who enjoys spending their free time as a clown to make people laugh. They also do landscape nature art.
This event is at Danelle Plaza in Tempe, the same plaza where Tempe's Animal Welfare office was located for several years. (That building is the "mural building" and definitely worth seeing on its own.)
Art Day is located in the Rocket Space Gallery, which formerly housed Rocket a Go Go. It's a lovely space which has hosted multiple art shows over the past few months.
Here's a description of Art Day: Bring your own projects that you are working on or use the supplies provided. This will be a sober environment full of positivity and passion. The point of Art Day is to enjoy each other's company and the act of creating. From 5-7pm we will pursue the arts together. All mediums and practices are welcome. Some examples: digital art, painting, clay, sewing, toy model painting, air brush, journaling, guitar, etc. All ages welcome. These events will occur on the last Sunday of every month.
Let's meet here and paint mini canvases together! I will provide the canvas + easel kit + some paint for our group. Some markers also. The gallery will have some art supplies available as well. Feel free to bring anything you'd like to work on.
