The cultural association LAB – Laboratorio di Fotografia di Architettura e Paesaggio, in collaboration with ITS Academy Apulia Digital and proud main sponsor Foto Diego, is thrilled to present an exclusive photography workshop led by acclaimed American photographer, writer, and curator Aaron Schuman.
This intensive, three-day workshop is designed to guide participants through the process of reading, interpreting, and documenting the unique urban and cultural landscape of Bari, Italy.
Under Schuman’s expert mentorship, you will dive deep into the mechanics of visual storytelling. About Aaron Schuman
Aaron Schuman (b. 1977) is an internationally recognized American photographer, writer, curator, and educator based in the United Kingdom. He is an Associate Professor of Photography & Visual Culture and the Programme Leader of the MA in Photography at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).
Schuman is the author of several critically acclaimed photographic monographs published by MACK and other prestigious publishers, including Folk (2016), Slant (2019), and Sonata (2022)—the latter being a profound visual exploration heavily inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Italian Journey. His photographic work has been exhibited globally at major institutions such as Tate Modern (London), Hauser & Wirth, Christie's, and Micamera (Milan).
As a curator, he has led prominent international festivals, including Krakow Photomonth and JaipurPhoto. His words, interviews, and essays regularly appear in leading publications such as Aperture, Foam, Frieze, Magnum Online, and The British Journal of Photography. His multidisciplinary approach seamlessly bridges the gap between documentary practice, conceptual history, and contemporary visual storytelling.
