Did you recently get a new camera? Do you have a camera sitting on a shelf because you haven’t figured out how to use it? Maybe you've got a camera but you want to get more use out of it? If you’d like to learn more about your camera and how to best utilize it to get great photographs, the Doña Ana Photography Club's “Photography Boot Camp Workshop” is for you!
This 4-part series is aimed at anyone new to photography, anyone wanting to learn how to better use his or her camera, or anyone with questions about photography and how to take better photographs. The Boot Camp will start with “Learning About Your Camera” and include courses covering taking better photographs, getting your camera off automatic mode, and basic editing.
Part 1 - Saturday, January 25 - Learning About Your Camera
Part 2 - Saturday, February 22 - Getting Your Camera Off Auto Mode
Part 3 - Saturday, March 22 - Creating Better Photographs
Part 4 - Saturday, April 26 - Enhancing Your Photos, Image Critique and Q&A
Part 1 - Learning About Your Camera
The first part of the course will revolve around the basics of the camera, identifying general camera information, dials, and buttons. Then the course will discuss basic techniques to help you get comfortable with the camera, holding it, and using it in the field; some basic photography tips will also be discussed.
For the second part of the course, attendees will break into smaller groups and work with a member of the Doña Ana Photography Club. Here they will be able to ask specific questions about their cameras and get hands-on help. After some hands-on time, groups will go out and get some practice “in the field.” They will have plenty of opportunities to practice things they learned and be able to ask questions while out taking pictures. Participants will then return and have a chance to review and discuss their photos and ask any final questions.
A DAPC member will lead the workshop; other members from the club will be on hand to help out during the hands-on section.
Space is limited; if you have any questions contact Rob Peinert at [email protected].
This course will take place Saturday, January 25th from 9 am to noon at the Parish Hall at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church - 518 Alameda Blvd, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Cost for the workshop is $5 per class, payable at the event. Space is limited; if you have any questions contact Rob Peinert at [email protected].
