Photobook Talk: Marvin Bonheur — La trilogie du Bonheur
About this Event
Join us for a conversation with French photographer and curator Marvin Bonheur, whose work explores memory, identity, and belonging through deeply personal and socially engaged photography.
La Trilogie du Bonheur (The Trilogy of Happiness) brings together a decade of images made in Seine-Saint-Denis, the Paris suburb where Bonheur grew up. Through three chapters—Alzheimer, Therapy, and Renaissance—the project traces a journey from childhood memories and collective struggles to self-discovery and artistic affirmation.
Drawing from his own experience, Bonheur challenges stereotypes surrounding marginalized communities while creating a powerful visual archive of resilience, friendship, and hope.
The discussion will also touch on Echoing Stories, a group exhibition on view in New York he co-curated that explores football as a shared culture and a source of aspiration in working-class communities, including several photographs from La Trilogie du Bonheur.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about his practice and his ongoing exploration of place, memory, and representation.
