Join author and activist Cristian Ochoa for a presentation of his photobook El lado oscuro del río (The Darkness of the River), which explores a community's resilience in defending its territory and challenges the greenwashing narratives promoted by polluting companies.

For centuries, ancient caravan routes crossed the Atacama Desert, connecting coastal communities, oases, and inland settlements through the exchange of food, goods, and knowledge. These ancestral pathways remain inscribed in the landscape through trails, geoglyphs, petroglyphs, and other traces that reveal a deep relationship between people and territory.

Today, the same landscape is traversed by new routes shaped by the extraction of resources such as copper and lithium. Moving between ancestral memory and industrial expansion, this project explores the transformation of the Loa River and the Atacama Desert, inviting reflection on the environmental and cultural impacts that continue to shape the region.
