Photo Walk for Women: West End Carnival
About this Event
A free photo walk for women at the West End Carnival
The West End Carnival takes over the streets around Plymouth Market on Saturday 29 August: samba bands, Taiko drummers, circus performers, vintage cars and a main stage at Frankfort Gate. No shortage of things to point a camera at!
We are running a free photo walk with Jess from the Fotonow team. We will meet at our space on Cornwall Street, have a coffee and a chat about what we are looking for, then head out together to photograph the carnival as it gets going.
You do not need any experience and if you have never thought of yourself as a photographer, that is fine! Jess will show you what to look for, how to compose a shot, and how to catch a moment while it is happening.
What you need to bring
Nothing, unless you want to. We have cameras you can borrow for the session. If you would rather use your own camera or your phone you are welcome to.
Wear comfortable shoes, since we will be on our feet and moving around. Bring a coat if it looks like rain, because we will go out either way.
Who this is for
This is a one-off photo walk, open to women and to anyone who identifies as a woman.
You do not need to have been to any of our sessions before. Most people who book on to these haven't, and you are as welcome on your own as with a friend (booking is required).
Anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian (the parent or guardian does not need to book a separate ticket).

- Cornwall Street: from Market Avenue to PCC Market Car Park
- Market Way: temporary two-way traffic lights installed for the narrow lane section between Morley Court junction onto Market Way and Market Way junction onto Coach Station
