Are you feeling kind of bummed out about being on your phone right now?

Like, maybe you opened it to check one thing, and then suddenly your soul got sucked through a tiny glowing portal and now it's been 47 minutes and you feel weird and bad?

Same!!!!!

PHONELESS FRIDAYS is a weekly open tool library /craft / arts / café night at Asylum where you can check your phone in at the front desk and spend a few hours making things, drinking coffee and wine, talking to people if you want, and remembering what it feels like to have a human attention span :)

Your phone goes into a safe cubby with the front desk. You get a number. When you're done (or if you need your phone back!), you just turn the number in and get it back. Easy!

We have so much available, all for free. You can use airbrush sets, sewing machines, fabric, oil paints, sculpture and collage supplies, clay, Cricut, heat press, embroidery supplies, guitars, analog bass synths, colored pencils, watercolor, a button/pin maker, fabric paint, yarn, tufting supplies, stamps, beading and jewelry-making supplies, and so much more. We also have every imaginable tool, including heavy-duty tools like saws, which staff can use to help with your project !!

So, come down! It's free, no commitment. Make something. Fix something. Decorate something. Learn something. Sit in the café. Start a zine. Paint your clothes. Make a pin. Play a synth. Talk to a stranger. Remember that reality is kind of nice sometimes <3

We designed this night for folk who wants to be less addicted to their phone, make more art, feel less lonely, and/or have one tiny weekly ritual where the internet does not get to eat the whole room.
