Concept Statement
The title "Apokálypsis," derived from the Greek word for "revelation" and "unveiling," frames the exhibition as an unveiling of hidden truths. Featuring works from a diverse array of artists, the show explores the metaphorical and literal end of the world as we know it, proposing the possibility of renewal and rebirth amidst destruction. The phoenix, reborn from its ashes (and widely recognized as our town's symbolic mascot and more), becomes a central motif, embodying the promise of a brighter and more equitable society.
Objectives:
• Critically examine the impact of American capitalism and political structures on society and the environment.
• Provide a platform for marginalized voices and narratives that challenge dominant ideologies.
• Encourage community engagement through interactive installations and public discussions.
Expected Outcomes
"Apokálypsis" aims to attract a diverse audience, foster meaningful dialogue, and inspire actionable change. By combining art, activism, and community engagement, the exhibition seeks to spark a collective reimagining of societal values and priorities.
