The February hike for the ALC Hike Series will take place at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park in Augusta, Georgia. The focus will be on wetland ecology and, especially, birds. This is a great time of year to see some of the most interesting and exciting birds that frequent Phinizy Swamp. Peter will bring his binoculars and a spotting scope to help everyone see the beautiful and fascinating species that may be visible during this time of year. We will mainly explore around the treatment wetlands, and the total hiking distance will be approximately two miles.
This hike is kid-friendly, so please feel free to bring your little ones along. The trails are almost entirely flat, mowed, and free of obstructions. Parking is available in the main parking lot at 1858 Lock and Dam Road, Augusta, GA 30906. Public restrooms are available near the parking lot.
