The projects of philosophers do not occur in a historical and cultural vacuum, and understanding the situations they were living in illuminates their philosophical projects and works. This lecture series focuses on examining the historical contexts in which thinkers like Seneca, Peter Abelard, Immanuel Kant, and Iris Murdoch were writing in relation to their main ideas.February 14: Seneca
May 8: Peter Abelard
August 14: Immanuel Kant
November 13 at 6:00 PM = Iris Murdoch
The lecture series is presented by Greg Sadler and Andi Sciacca of ReasonIO and is recommended for adults and high school students. Each lecture will last about 60 minutes, with time for questions and answers following the lecture.
