The Cultural Arts Center at SpArc Services is thrilled to present an innovative art exhibition entitled “Philadelphia Culture and Connections: Artworks by Individuals with Disabilities.” This exhibition runs from February 18 - April 18, 2025.
With a reception on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 5-7PM
These new pieces feature a variety of artistic mediums used to create artwork, all centered around Philadelphia’s rich, multicultural heritage, showcasing how art reflects the city’s evolving identity through the lens of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). The exhibition highlights the shared connections between the community with disabilities and the broader Philadelphia community. The exhibition embraces the arts as a catalyst for social change by amplifying the voices of a frequently marginalized community and empowering individuals with disabilities to challenge societal norms, thus sparking dialogue that brings awareness of their many talents and contributions.
Through “Philadelphia Cultures and Connections”, the Cultural Arts Center aims to break down barriers and reduce bias associated with the disability community by sharing the voices, visions, and stories of individuals with IDD as we celebrate the artistic contributions of people with disabilities.
