Pets, Plants and Pollinators gives children ages 7–9 a fun after‑school chance to explore how animals, plants, and people connect!
About this Event

Weekly Meeting: Thursday, 5pm - 7pm

Pets, Plants and Pollinators club will teach children ages 7-9 about ecosystems, the environment and the earth we live on. We will be discussing the significance of both the largest and smallest animals in our city. Children will be provided the opportunity to observe plant life cycles, consider how all life on the land is connected, and how they impact the land they are on. This club will contain stories, gardening, crafting and special guests (both human and animal) to develop a foundational understanding of being caregivers of the animal and land.

Our Pets, Plants & Pollinators club attendees will...

  • Learn to identify animal body language signs in dogs, cats, bunnies, and more
  • Build an early understanding of ecosystems and how animals, plants, and people all depend on one another
  • Explore the importance of both large and small animals in our local environment and why each species matters
  • Observe plant life cycles and discover how plants grow, change, and support the world around them
  • Learn how pollinators help our environment and why protecting them is essential for a healthy ecosystem
  • Develop awareness of how their actions impact the land, animals, and natural spaces they interact with
  • Participate in hands‑on gardening, stories, crafts, and activities that bring environmental concepts to life
  • Interact with special guests—both human and animal—to deepen empathy and understanding
  • Strengthen a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the earth by learning how to care for animals, plants, and the environment
  • Learn about empathy and compassion while learning about different animals who come through the sheler

Club Dates:

  • Week 1: Thursday, April 16th
  • Week 2: Thursday, April 23rd
  • Week 3: Thursday, April 30th
  • Week 4: Thursday, May 7th
  • Week 5: Thursday, May 14th
  • Week 6: Thursday, May 21st
  • Week 7: Thursday, May 28th
  • Week 8: Thursday, June 4th

This is an active, hands‑on learning experience. Each week, children will take part in age‑appropriate tasks that support the shelter, including group activities, small projects, and meaningful contributions to the care and enrichment of our animals and their spaces. Before enrolling, we encourage families to talk with their children to ensure they are interested in participating in the program.

We want every participant to feel welcome, engaged, and empowered. Together, we’ll build new skills, help animals in need, and make a positive impact. We look forwrad to learning and growing together!
