AI Conundrum
Artificial Intelligence is actively reshaping how scientists do their jobs, allowing them to work at a pace unimaginable just a few years ago and provide support to students in new ways. These upsides come with environmental costs that complicate this picture of progress. Our panel will discuss the ways artificial intelligence is transforming scientific research and education, the trade-offs between energy efficiency and water conservation, and what we can do to thread that needle.

Panelists Include:
- Dan Knights, Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, College of Science and Engineering
- Cara Santelli, Professor, Earth and Environmental Sciences, College of Science and Engineering
- Katie Greenham, Assistant Professor, Plant and Microbial Biology, College of Biological Sciences
Registration is requested. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Program starts at 6:15 p.m.

Petri Dish panel discussions explore how biology affects our lives and what it means for our future. No PowerPoints. Just lively, curiosity-driven conversations on timely topics with University of Minnesota experts.
Organized by the University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences In collaboration with the Bell Museum.
