Peter Mulvey & Jenna Nicholls present Floyd Mercantile at White Lilac
About this Event
Peter Mulvey and Jenna Nicholls join forces as Floyd Mercantile, bringing their own songwriting into conversation with the Great American Songbook. Their collaboration draws on folk, jazz, and early Americana, with warmth, wit, and a shared affection for songs that endure.
Peter Mulvey has spent decades building an international following through thoughtful songwriting, restless musical curiosity, and thousands of live performances. Raised in Milwaukee, he honed his craft busking in Dublin and Boston before taking his music around the world, sharing stages with artists including Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, and Chuck Prophet. His work brings together poetry, storytelling, humor, and a deeply human perspective.
Jenna Nicholls brings an expressive voice and a songwriter’s imagination steeped in vintage American music. Moving among ukulele, guitar, and piano, she pairs melodic elegance with an engaging sense of mischief. Her solo album The Commuter, produced by multiple Grammy winner Larry Campbell, showcases original songs informed by everything from New Orleans music to classic Hollywood and cowboy ballads.
Floyd Mercantile began in an old general store in Floyd, Virginia, where Mulvey, Nicholls, and guitarist Ross Bellenoit spent five days recording together in the same room. Released in June 2026 on Righteous Babe Records, the resulting album places their original compositions alongside classics including “Skylark,” “Them There Eyes,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.” That spirit of close listening and musical conversation is at the heart of the project.
Join us at The White Lilac for an evening of remarkable songwriting, playful exchanges, and songs worth settling in to hear.
